hodog Black Mo Mystery - 2008/06/26 10:06 While scouting trails in Black Mo I have found large tracts of area (besides Benner Run Road) that have no undergrowth. The area(s) have been demarked by ribbons so I'm wondering if the state sprayed to kill it. Anyone have a clue what is going on? Weird.

zero Re:Black Mo Mystery - 2008/06/27 08:39 claysburg police removed it. helps them shoot the bears easier.

sorry...couldn't resist.

i really have no clue. we have an area in the tuscarora where it looks like they took some type of equipment and "chewed" off all the underbrush...including the laurel. Been that way for a number of years and i'm not sure the purpose.

mattd Re:Black Mo Mystery - 2008/06/30 15:27 I know that in the ANF the forestry "management" folks use a ton of herbicide to stack the deck in favor of Black Cherry trees taking over the forest. Perhaps there is something similar going on here.
