princess Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/20 12:51 stu, this is disturbingly like advertising. i'm not so sure there are actually "rules" per se on the forums, but you might want to ask rodney or kevin or whoever makes that decision.

frank Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/20 13:33 Advertising in the marketplace forums!?! Say it isn't so!

sah Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/20 14:40 I apologize if there was a breach of etiquette on my part. I did read the rules prior to posting and I did not see anything specific regarding a post of this nature and listed it only in the marketplace forum. (Its not like I'm spamming for Viagra you know...its a bike after all).

The system administrator should delete the thread if it’s against the rules.

Aside from this, since Bill Grove was a local builder (and is starting up again I understand), I wanted to give the local community some exposure to this sale (yes, and hopefully get a good price for it). It’s been sitting in my garage collecting dust, maybe someone else would like to own it/ride it.

jmblg Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/20 15:37 Donnie, for us newbies in the used market, please explain the difference between attaching a picture and price versus a link to an already esblished ad? what do you mean by ADVERTISING? advertising for who/what?

Death Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/20 16:01 Yikes! Ye be banished from the forums! Selling merchandise on the Marketplace forum. Eh gads!

Seriously, this is what the forums are for. A person selling a personal item. (And a local person at that!) Don, were you on crack when you posted?

Raymo853 Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/20 18:32 HO man you so need this bike. Throw a 29er reba and the wheel from my Rig and there and the BB will be so high you can just pedal through every rock garden and breeze over every log.

kevinb Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/21 00:00 i agree from way our here in Utah (freakin great place to ride by the way), the market place is all about sellin stuff so go for it with "spam" especially when its something as local as a vintage Grove. I know I was drooling when Delaney picked up the vintage Grove cross bike with vintage campy mtn bike parts.

sah Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/21 19:30 I have one mounted on a C-Dale 26x24 sitting in the garage. If someone really wants it on the bike to sweeten the deal, it would need cut down a little but should work (its black too).

Jim G Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/22 22:33 I guess a hardcore frame should have a hardcore fork. I'm not interested as I have a fully original '91 assault in storage.

princess Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/30 21:58 man you guys all hate me, and for no good reason!

well, i don't doubt that you all were thinking good thoughts when assuming i was freaking out. but nearly every forum i've been on with a marketplace will not let you post a link to an ebay auction. there's also the little nagging in my mind about how the club has no preference and the auction being through the shop.

case in point would be the aforementioned grove that delaney got BEFORE it went to ebay.

i've no problem with offerring locals a chance at the bike, but do so before putting it on ebay. local buyers are actually disserviced by purchasing on ebay anyway. i'd recommend putting the word out locally and waiting a week for aaron to post it.

all in all it doesn't matter, but i've seen it handled differently elsewhere and very stringently. i was curious if we had a similar policy or not.

and no one here bothered buying it cause it went in a box this morning. so there !

Death Re:"Vintage" Grove Hardcore on ebay - 2007/08/30 22:52 Don,

Thanks for the clarification. I looked at the auction after you first posted but since you addressed the person as "Stu" (whom I do not know), I assumed it was a personal sale and didn't realize it was through the Bicycle Shop.

I'm not the authority to make such decisions, but I think we should discuss it at the next club meeting or in the Members forum.

Just a thought- in the future perhaps a fuller response to start instead of a quick quip would resolve these things sooner.

P.S. Are you trying to p.o. your employer?

Rodney
