Tussey Mountain Extension Closure
Written by Frank Maguire
Wednesday, 29 October 2008

The property owner of the portion gasline that we use to exit Tussey Mountain Extension has informed us that she will be closing her property as soon as the gasline expansion is completed.

Please respect her rights and try to discourage others from riding. Signs to this effect will be going up shortly. Out and back on the trail itself is acceptable, but if you turn left to continue down to Treaster-Kettle Rd, you cross onto private land.

We will be working with Forestry to use this opportunity to try and complete the much dreamed about trans-Tussey loop.

Thursday, 04 September 2008

NMBA and the Centre Region Bicycle Coalition partnered with Clearwater Conservancy to land a $10,000 grant to help build a bike path connecting Musser Gap and State College. This is part of an overall project to open Musser as a new trailhead to Rothrock, one that will be easily and safely within riding distance of downtown. Details of the grant award are below, but suffice it to say that the club works to bring new riding opportunities in many different ways!

Just got this from DCNR this morning...

Grading and earthmoving activities associated with the Dominion Pipeline’s Cove Point Expansion have gotten underway as of yesterday (16 July ). The following trails will be posted with signs alerting users to the construction activities. Trail crossings over the pipeline will be maintained during the construction activities.

4. Tussey Mountain Trail

The closures and alerts will remain in effect until further notice. Tentative timeline for reopening is early fall.

Thank you for your cooperation.
